Roswell, New Mexico is the location of the infamous Roswell incident of 1947. The crashing of that hard knocks “weather balloon”, at Brazel Ranch, had the US government close the area down for 71 years. Only since Thursday, July 2nd, 2018 has the Mack Brazel crash site, which is about 75 miles out from Downtown, been officially open to the public.[1] Nothing secret about that weather balloon.

The crash site has been one of the most sought-after locations in New Mexico. In 1947, Mack Brazel, a rancher, allegedly spotted an unusual object on his ranch. Once he arrived at the scene, he said he found a lot of unearthly debris.[1]
